A United Front Forms in Brazzaville
The parties of the presidential majority have closed ranks in Brazzaville. In a joint declaration, they pledged their support to a single candidacy for the next presidential election, the vote scheduled for March 2026 in the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville).
One Name, One Candidacy
The declaration names Denis Sassou-Nguesso as the bloc’s sole candidate. By signing a common text, the allied formations signalled that they intend to head into the campaign without competing nominations among themselves, presenting a coordinated line ahead of the ballot.
What the Declaration Sets in Motion
For the majority, a single candidacy is a way to concentrate effort behind one figure rather than dispersing it. The signing in the capital marks an early, public step in the run-up to the March 2026 contest, well before the formal opening of the campaign.
